The US Department of Government Efficiency cancels the allocation of $22 million for the electoral processes in the Republic of Moldova
The Republic of Moldova is losing $22 million in financial support after the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, announced the cancellation of a $486 million fund intended for the "Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening", which also includes our country. The decision was communicated through a post on X.

The funds were intended to support an "inclusive and participatory political process" in the Republic of Moldova.
Recently, billionaire Elon Musk, appointed by the new US President Donald Trump to head a Commission on Government Efficiency (DOGE), announced at the White House that without budget cuts, the United States risks reaching "bankruptcy", AFP reports.
"We have a $2 trillion deficit, and if we don't do something about it, the country will go bankrupt," Elon Musk said, alongside Republican President Donald Trump.
Critics warn that Musk and DOGE's actions could lead to a "constitutional crisis," overstepping the traditional authority of government employees and raising questions about conflicts of interest, as Musk's companies are themselves government contractors. There are also concerns that the spending cuts could negatively impact essential programs and lead to abuses of power.
US taxpayer dollars were going to be spent on the following items, all which have been cancelled:
