Ignatiev explained that during the energy crisis in January, in the absence of natural gas deliveries, most of the coal reserves were consumed by MDRES in the process of electricity production.

The representative of Tiraspol said that the power plant can operate on a type of coal different from the usual one, with solid fuel that generates a long flame and gaseous type fuel excluded from the technological process. According to Vitali Ignatiev, to replenish the depleted strategic reserves, the region needs at least 100 thousand tons of such coal.

We recall that during the gas crisis, caused by the decision of the Russian concern Gazprom to interrupt supplies to the left bank of the Nistru, Ukraine proposed to supply coal to the Transnistrian region, but Tiraspol did not accept this offer. Kiev expressed its willingness to help Moldovan citizens on the left bank of the Nistru following a phone conversation between Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Maia Sandu, who agreed to cooperate to mitigate the impact of the energy crisis on the population of the Transnistrian region.
