Chisinau continues to exert pressure on Tiraspol to comply with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova

Chisinau will continue to exert pressure on the so-called Tiraspol administration to comply with Moldovan legislation. The statement was made by Prime Minister Dorin Recean during a visit to the south of the country, in the context of natural gas deliveries to the Transnistrian region.

"We will continue to put the necessary pressure so that those on the left bank of the Nistru gradually comply with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova. There is an offer supported by free money, offered by the European Union, through which those on the left bank of the Nistru must procure gas, but also meet certain conditions. The Government does not participate in any other transaction, does not arrange it, but only monitors the legality of gas deliveries. As long as this legality exists, they can do this," Recean declared.

We remind you that, since February 14, the Transnistrian region has been receiving gas through the European trader MET, with financing provided by a company in Dubai. The government in Chisinau previously mentioned that it allowed these deliveries to prevent a humanitarian crisis.

The deliveries were authorized by the provision of the Commission for Emergencies that allowed S.A. Moldovagaz to conclude contracts for the sale and purchase of natural gas to be delivered to SRL Tiraspoltransgaz, but with advance payment, including transportation.

The government stressed that this is not an agreement with Russia or other entities, but a permission from the Executive so that the people of the Transnistrian region receive gas and do not freeze.

While Tiraspol claims that the gas supply is based on a credit provided by Moscow, experts warn that this scheme would allow Russia to maintain its influence in the region.
