Moldova's vetting process continues with European funding
The vetting process in Moldova will continue to be funded by European countries, and the Commission for Prosecutor Evaluations will soon resume its work.

This was announced by the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, during the "In Depth" show on Pro TV.
"Yes, funding has been secured from European partners. One of several countries has offered to cover the shortfall. Very soon, the third evaluation commission for prosecutors' cases, those who have been notified, will resume its work, and we will continue with the evaluations... The vetting process will take time, whether we like it or not," said Igor Grosu.
At the beginning of February, President Maia Sandu stated that the suspension of some external funding by the US administration had affected the vetting process for judges and prosecutors.
In light of the President's statement, in which she mentioned that the cessation of external funding through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) would suspend the evaluation process, the Judicial Evaluation Commission announced that the suspension of USAID funding had not affected their work, and the commission members are continuing their regular duties.
It is worth noting that US support for the vetting process in Moldova for 2024 totals $1.5 million and has been provided through the State Department. For justice and anti-corruption efforts, the aid amounted to nearly $1.9 million and was provided through USAID.
