President Maia Sandu declared that the war brought not only suffering but also a lesson in resistance and solidarity.

“Three years since a merciless war tries to crush the freedom of a people and sow fear in our hearts. Three years in which houses, hospitals, schools and churches in Ukraine are destroyed, families are torn apart, and children are deprived of their childhood. Three years of suffering, but also immeasurable courage.”

The head of state also spoke about the impact of the war on the Republic of Moldova, recalling the security threats generated by air attacks on Ukraine, including drones and missile fragments falling on the country’s territory.

“The echoes of this war also ring in our ears, we saw drones and missile fragments falling near our villages. We felt the restlessness of the nights disturbed by the bombings. But Moldova has proven that it is strong in the face of fear, we remained united, in the face of uncertainty we chose solidarity, we opened the door to those fleeing war, and we shared the little we had without hesitation. Today we know that our peace depends on the courage of Ukraine, but also our determination. We must protect our peace and freedom from those who want to see us weak and divided, from those who blackmail us with darkness and cold or try to buy votes with dirty money,” declared Maia Sandu.

The Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, in turn sent a message of support for the Ukrainian people and condemned the “illegal invasion of Russia”. He stressed that this war is not only a threat to Ukraine, but to the whole of Europe.

“We are witnesses to an unjust war, witnesses to three years of illegal, immoral, I have every right to say criminal invasion by Russia, and this is because an individual with immeasurable ambitions for power wants to establish “ruskyi mir” in Ukraine and restore an empire. (...) We all understand that if he succeeds, he will not stop at Ukraine, he will also deny our right to exist, the right of the Baltic states, Poland, Romania and other states from the former Soviet sphere of influence. He is already doing it through the hybrid war waged in Europe where he is attacking democracies, grossly interfering in elections. We and Romania felt it in November, Georgia and Serbia felt it. Thank you, dear Ukrainians, for your resistance, for fighting, for loving Ukraine. Moldova will stand by Ukraine as long as it takes,” said Igor Grosu.

In turn, Prime Minister Dorin Recean highlighted the drama of the millions of people affected by this war and reaffirmed Chisinau's support for Ukraine and the European future of both states.

"Three years of unjust war. Three years of suffering. Three years of resistance against Russia's unjustified aggression. (..) In three years of Russian invasion, millions of Ukrainians have lost everything: lives destroyed, children separated from their parents, entire cities wiped off the map and much suffering. All this time, Moldovans have been brave and in solidarity with Ukraine. We know what it means to be united - for peace, freedom and a life in which our children do not know fear. Moldova is and remains with Ukraine for freedom, democracy and the values that define our European future. Just peace for Ukraine", wrote Dorin Recean on his Facebook page.

We remind you that February 24, 2025 marks three years since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a conflict that has become the bloodiest in Europe since World War II. After three years of intense fighting, the human and material losses are devastating, and a diplomatic solution still remains uncertain.
