Moldova to honor heroes on the Day of Remembrance and Gratitude
On March 2, the Republic of Moldova will observe the Day of Remembrance and Gratitude, honoring those who perished in the 1992 armed conflict.

Commemorative events will be held across various communities, including wreath-laying ceremonies at memorial sites, memorial marches, solemn assemblies, and religious services.
On this occasion, the government of Moldova has passed a resolution providing for these activities. In the capital, Chișinău, the day will begin with memorial services at 10:00 AM, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of Stephen the Great and Holy. Later, alongside veterans, national leaders, and state officials, participants will take part in a March of Remembrance to the Grieving Mother Monument, where the solemn ceremony will continue.
Additionally, efforts will be made to restore and maintain monuments dedicated to fallen heroes. Schools and universities will observe the Week of Remembrance and Gratitude, fostering reflection on the significance of the event.
The events will take place with the support of public authorities, defense and security institutions, and veteran organizations. Furthermore, the government has announced that veterans of the Dniester armed conflict and the families of those who lost their lives will receive financial aid. Veterans will also be entitled to free medical care as part of the state’s commitment to their well-being.
