The Republic of Moldova imported over 60% of the energy consumed in February
In February 2025, SA Energocom purchased about 403,000 MWh of electricity from both the local and imported markets at a weighted average price of €137.53 per MWh, which is below the ceiling set by ANRE, €145 per MWh.

According to Energocom, the European Commission's grant for the right bank will reduce the cost of energy purchased in Romania, lowering it from €137.53/MWh to €112.78/MWh.
Currently, over 61% of the energy purchased by Energocom is imported, while local production accounts for 38.99% of the total energy needs. Power plants in Chișinău and Bălți generate 32.61% of the energy, with renewable sources contributing nearly 6.38%.
The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) sets the tariffs for electricity produced by district heating plants and certain renewable energy producers. In contrast, the purchase price of green energy from producers operating in the free market is regulated by the Provision of the Commission for Emergencies dated December 27, 2024.
In addition to the purchase cost, the final price of energy includes taxes, transport and logistics costs.
