The designated Prime Minister, Dorin Recean, is expected in Parliament to ask for a vote of confidence
The prime minister-designate, Dorin Recean, is coming to Parliament today to ask the deputies for a vote of confidence. Recean will present the activity program and the composition of the future cabinet of ministers. The event is scheduled for 14:00. The public television station Moldova 1 will broadcast live the debates in the plenary session of the Parliament. Meanwhile, several people are protesting in front of the Legislative, showing dissatisfaction with the high tariffs for electricity and natural gas.
The list of the future cabinet of ministers, as well as the activity program, entitled "Prosperous, safe, European Moldova", were made public yesterday evening, February 15. Thus, the future government, which will be made up of 15 ministries, aims, as a priority, to strengthen state security, relaunch the economy, and integrate the Republic of Moldova into the European Union. "We are at a crucial moment. The decisions we make now will influence our future and that of our children. We have the opportunity and the obligation to reach the civilized world, to become part of the European family - a union of peace and prosperity", reads the activity program proposed by Dorin Recean.
We remind that the Bloc of Communists and Socialists has already announced that it will not vote for the investiture of the Government led by Dorin Recean, even if the fraction will participate in the investiture meeting of the new Cabinet of Ministers. According to the executive secretary of the PSRM, Vlad Bătrîncea, also vice-president of the Parliament, the socialists and communists do not support the team led by Dorin Recean and insist on early parliamentary elections.
Meanwhile, at this hour, dozens of people gathered in the square of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. The flashmob is organized by the Movement for the People, which includes several activists and politicians, including the "Shor" Party. The crowd is unhappy with high energy bills and are chanting anti-government slogans.
We remind you that on February 10, Natalia Gavrilița resigned from the position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova. On the same day, President Maia Sandu appointed her adviser on defense and security issues, Dorin Recean, as a candidate for the position of prime minister. According to the law, after the vote granted by the Parliament, the President of the Republic of Moldova appoints the Government, which begins to exercise its powers from the day of taking the oath before the head of state.
