A local leader of the former Shor party will stand trial
The president of the Călărași territorial office of the former Șor party was charged with complicity in the illegal financing of the political party. This criminal case was separated from the main investigation, which started in 2022 and is still ongoing to identify all individuals involved.
The investigation revealed that the defendant accepted illicit financing of approximately 468,000 lei from an organized criminal group. According to a press release from the General Prosecutor's Office, the defendant has not admitted her guilt, and the criminal case was forwarded for examination to the Chisinau Court.
If convicted, the defendant faces a fine of up to 92,500 lei or imprisonment for up to seven years. In both scenarios, she may also be deprived of the right to hold certain positions or engage in specific activities for a period of up to five years.
During the criminal investigation, the defendant's assets totalling about 200,000 lei were seized to ensure the potential execution of the fine and any applicable special confiscation.
