Chisinau condemns the application of the Russian model on the left bank of the Nistru to fight with "child-free propaganda"

The Reintegration Policy Bureau firmly condemns the recent illegal actions taken by Tiraspol that violate international law and are aimed at further undermining fundamental human rights and freedoms, particularly the right to private and family life. This response from the constitutional authorities follows Tiraspol's intention to ban what it describes as the "propaganda of a child-free life," based on a model from Russia.
Relevant international partners, including the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, have been urgently notified about the situation, with a call to utilize all available measures to cancel these illegal initiatives and prevent such unacceptable abuses, reads a press release from the Reintegration Policy Office.
The authorities in Chisinau will also inform the political representative in Tiraspol about this issue, stressing the need to "stop the unprecedented limitation of fundamental human rights."
We remind you that the regime on the left bank of the Nistru announced its intention to amend Transnistrian legislation concerning child protection, advertising, cinema, media, and guarantees of children's rights, as well as the contravention code. In response, the Promo-LEX Association has cautioned that the proposed provisions lack clear examples or precise details regarding what constitutes "propaganda of a child-free life," and they do not offer a clear definition of this concept. Human rights defenders believe that the announced measures may result in intimidation and persecution by law enforcement agencies, and could even lead to illegal arrests.
