Three outbreaks of African swine fever and one of rabies recorded in Moldova
Three outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) and one outbreak of rabies were reported in Moldova last week. ASF outbreaks were identified in the localities of Ghidighici, Bulboaca, Anenii Noi district and Copceac, Ceadîr-Lunga district, all in domestic pigs.
A rabies outbreak was also reported in a dog in Straseni district.
Also during this period, health authorities managed to eradicate four outbreaks of ASF and one of avian flu. Quarantine measures were introduced in the African swine fever outbreaks and protection and surveillance zones were established.
The National Food Safety Agency urges farmers and the population to strictly apply biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
