Moldova’s new law will reduce roaming fees with EU countries

Roaming fees for Moldovan citizens will be gradually reduced until they are completely eliminated, within five years at most.

The government has approved a draft law regulating roaming fees with EU member states.

According to estimates, users will save between 30% and 70% of their current roaming costs, depending on the type of services they use.

The draft law requires providers to accurately and promptly inform consumers about roaming fees and any additional charges, as stated by the Executive in a press release. Additionally, mechanisms have been put in place to resolve disputes over billing errors.

It is worth noting that, starting January 1, 2024, roaming fees between the Republic of Moldova and EU member states were reduced, following an agreement between our country and the European Union. Mobile network operators have voluntarily agreed to offer more advantageous deals to end users, including free packages in monthly plans.
