Moldova1.md ranks among Moldova’s top trusted news portals

Moldova1.md has been ranked among the top three most trusted news portals in the country, according to an assessment conducted by the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) on the Media RADAR platform.

Between March 10 and 13, the IJC evaluated the credibility of 40 news websites in the Republic of Moldova, assessing their adherence to ethical and professional journalism standards. As a result, Moldova1.md secured third place, surpassed only by Nokta.md and Agora.md.

The evaluation assessed the quality of journalism, source balance, transparency of identifying information, and editorial policy. News outlets scoring between 46 and 56 points were deemed reliable sources, with Moldova1.md falling within this range, alongside Nokta.md, Agora.md, ZdG.md, NewsMaker.md, and IPN.md.

“The results of this assessment reveal trends similar to those observed in previous evaluations. Many news outlets merely republish official statements from state institutions or political parties without further developing the topics or providing additional context to help readers better understand the information. This practice undermines journalistic quality, reducing source diversity and disrupting balance, particularly when news articles contain accusations against various actors,” explained Nadine Gogu, Executive Director of the IJC.

The evaluation was based on samples of news articles covering politics, society, and the economy, published in February.
