Moldovan citizens warned about severe weather in Italy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Moldova has issued a warning to Moldovan citizens currently in, transiting through, or planning to travel to Italy regarding severe weather events expected to affect several regions.
According to authorities, between March 14-15, 2025, heavy rainfall is forecasted for the Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany regions, with risks of flooding and landslides. In addition, strong winds and storms are expected to impact the affected areas, which could disrupt road traffic and travel safety.
In light of this, the MFA advises citizens to postpone non-essential travel to the affected regions and to follow safety instructions provided by local authorities.
For further information and continuous weather updates, individuals are encouraged to visit the official website of Italy’s Department of Civil Protection: www.protezionecivile.gov.it.
It is important to note that severe storms and torrential rains have already caused flooding and landslides in northern Italy, particularly in the Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna regions. Authorities have issued red alerts for cities such as Florence and Pisa, warning of extensive flooding risks.
In Badia Prataglia, Tuscany, a family of four was rescued from a landslide on Thursday evening, according to the BBC. Roads in Florence have been affected by flooding and fallen trees, and a section of the A1 highway has been closed. In Tuscany, schools and universities have been closed. Emergency response teams are on high alert, urging residents to exercise caution.
