New general consuls of the Republic of Moldova in Italy and the USA, appointed by the Government

The Cabinet of Ministers approved, during the Government meeting on Wednesday, March 19, the appointment of new general consuls of the Republic of Moldova in Italy and the USA.
Thus, Vadim Zmeu was appointed general consul of the Republic of Moldova in Padua, Italy. He is a diplomat with about 18 years of experience within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has held various executive and management positions, and currently, he manages the Consular Affairs Directorate as interim head, he is responsible for coordinating consular policies and managing the activity of diplomatic missions. Previously, he was head of the Law and Consular Relations Section, consul in Padua, as well as at the General Consulate in Bologna.
Anton Lungu was also appointed General Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Chicago. He is a diplomat with extensive experience in international relations; he will coordinate the activity of the consulate and strengthen ties between the Moldovan authorities and the diaspora.
"With a solid background in economic diplomacy and transatlantic relations, Anton Lungu has the necessary expertise to transform the new consulate into an active center of support and collaboration for Moldovans in the United States," informs the MFA.
Also today, the Government appointed Maxim Arghir as general consul of the Republic of Moldova in Sacramento.
"He is a diplomat, with over 11 years of experience within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his professional career, he has achieved remarkable results in the country and abroad. He currently successfully manages the activity of the Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Padua," said Mihai Mîțu, General Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
