World War II veterans will receive 30 thousand lei in aid this year

The Government of the Republic of Moldova decided to increase the financial aid granted to World War II veterans to 30,000 lei, by 20,000 lei more than in previous years. The decision was voted on during today's Executive session and concerns 25 veterans who are still alive in the Republic of Moldova.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean said the measure was a gesture of gratitude to those who fought against Nazism. “The government took this important decision as a sign of gratitude and deep respect for the people who fought against Nazism and for the Victory of Peace,” Recean said.

In previous years, World War II veterans received 10,000 lei in state support.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
