Raids: Four judges, a prosecutor, and three lawyers targeted in a corruption case

Prosecutors and anti-corruption officers are conducting around 30 searches in several localities in the Republic of Moldova as part of 12 criminal cases related to judicial corruption, the General Prosecutor's Office announced.
The action was initiated after the Prosecutor General, Ion Munteanu, obtained the consent of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) for the criminal prosecution and the conduct of searches regarding four judges suspected of active corruption, passive corruption, and influence peddling committed in aggravating circumstances.
According to the evidence, this case also involves a prosecutor and three lawyers, suspected of having facilitated the resolution of cases pending before the Hâncești Court and the Chișinău Court of Appeal, in exchange for sums of money or other illicit benefits. Also, several people who allegedly offered bribes through lawyers are collaborating with the investigative bodies.
A judge and a lawyer were detained, and the other suspects are being investigated at large. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances and identify other people involved.
According to the legislation, all persons concerned benefit from the presumption of innocence until a final court decision.
