Several flights to Egypt canceled amid financial disagreements between trading partners

Several charter flights from Chișinău to tourist destinations in Egypt were canceled on the evening of March 26 due to the non-payment of financial obligations by some business partners in the tourism sector. The information was confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), which was officially notified of these changes.

The affected flights were operated as part of tourist packages, and their cancellation is related to the contractual relationship between tour operators and passengers. To minimize the inconvenience caused, two flights to Egyptian resorts will be operated today, March 27, allowing passengers who have purchased vacations to reach their destinations, informed the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Authorities urge individuals who believe their rights were violated to contact the competent consumer protection institution for tourist packages.

As the summer season begins, the Civil Aviation Authority calls on all actors in the aviation and tourism sectors to honour their commitments to prevent such situations. Additionally, further inspections will be carried out to determine the exact circumstances that led to the flight cancellations.

Sharm El Sheikh—one of the most popular destinations

According to the latest data from Chișinău International Airport, Sharm El Sheikh is among the most frequented destinations, with about 10% of total flights and ranks second after Istanbul.
