At least 24 employees of the Placement Center for People with Disabilities in Bădiceni, Soroca, will be sanctioned, and the institution will undergo reshuffles, announced the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu, on the "Rezoomat" show on Rlive. According to him, the ministry started a deeper analysis of the situation, after a journalistic investigation revealed serious abuses against the center's beneficiaries.
*"We have a serious problem; we failed to protect these people, their dignity and rights. Two separate investigations were launched in Bădiceni and several changes will be made. In the first instance, at least 24 collaborators of this center will be sanctioned. We have identified deviations and certain suspicions; we will also make reshuffles; we will have a different approach to prevent such cases," said the minister.
Asked who is responsible for these abuses, Buzu admitted that "everyone is guilty, including the minister."
"If such cases happen, when the simple dignity and rights of people are violated, the social worker, the head of the service, the director of the institution, the agency, the secretary of state, the minister are guilty", said the official.
We remind you that at the end of last week, three employees of the center, including the director of the institution, were detained and are being investigated for human trafficking and witness tampering. According to prosecutors, between 2021 and February 2025, they exploited the center's beneficiaries, people with severe disabilities, through labor, forcing them to work without pay on a farm. The investigation is ongoing, and the guilty might face up to 20 years in prison.
