Russian Embassy denies involvement in Nesterovschi case

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Chisinau reacts to the accusations launched by the Director of the Intelligence and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Musteață, regarding Moscow's interference in the country's internal affairs. In a statement issued on Monday, March 31, the diplomatic mission qualifies the Moldovan official's statements as "unfounded and unacceptable insinuations" and states that the Moldovan side has not yet submitted any official request for legal assistance, either under the 1993 bilateral agreement or within the framework of the 2002 CIS convention.
"We urge the Moldovan side to refrain from provocative speculation and rely on a return to a pragmatic dialogue, in the fundamental interest of the peoples of both states," reads the reply of the Russian Embassy.
The response comes after the director of the SIS, Alexandru Musteață, announced in a press conference that the member of the Parliament Alexandr Nesterovschi is currently in the Transnistrian region, where he arrived with the support of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Chișinău. According to him, the operation is part of a hybrid aggression mechanism coordinated by Russia against the Republic of Moldova.
