Russian Federation expels three employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow

On Friday, April 4, Lilian Darii, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation, was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During this meeting, he was informed that three employees of the Moldovan Embassy in Moscow had been declared "persona non grata."

The decision to expel three members of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau on March 31 was made due to allegations that they were engaged in activities inconsistent with their diplomatic status.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova operates in accordance with the Vienna Convention of 1961. They stated that any allegations of involvement in the internal affairs of Moldova are unfounded.

On March 31, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chisinau issued a note to Oleg Ozerov, the Ambassador-designate of the Russian Federation, declaring the three embassy employees as undesirable persons in Moldova. This action was taken following accusations from the Intelligence and Security Service, which stated that Russia had allegedly assisted convicted deputy Alexandr Nesterovschi in hiding in the Transnistrian region. The Russian Embassy rejected these allegations, describing them as "unfounded and unacceptable insinuations."
