IGSU received 19 new special vehicles donated to the Republic of Moldova by Japan

Rescuers will respond more quickly in emergencies thanks to the addition of 19 new special vehicles. These vehicles, equipped with advanced technology, were manufactured in Japan and delivered to our country as part of the "Improvement of Fire Prevention Equipment" Project. The handover event took place in the Great National Assembly Square. The special vehicles will be distributed to units in Chișinău, Bălți, Cahul, Ungheni, and Orhei.
At the ceremony to receive the equipment, head of state Maia Sandu expressed her gratitude to the Japanese government for this generous donation and for the ongoing support provided to our country over the years.

"Over a million Moldovan citizens from the north, center and south will be better protected in case of danger. Thus, the response time to citizens' requests in the localities of displacement and in districts will decrease, which will mean lives saved, because every second counts", emphasized President Maia Sandu.

"Given that the equipment of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies is significantly outdated, the contribution of the Government of Japan in the field of intervention in the Republic of Moldova is a huge step taken by us to protect our citizens", declared the Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniela Misail-Nichitin.
Japan is among the largest donors to the Republic of Moldova.

"Japan is donating 19 emergency vehicles to the Republic of Moldova, including 9 vehicles of different sizes, eight vehicles with a 30-meter ladder and two vehicles of 50 meters. The total value of this project is approximately 14 million US dollars", said the Japanese ambassador to Chisinau, Yoichiro Yamada.

According to IGSU, the project "Improvement of Fire Prevention Equipment" is carried out based on the agreement signed on November 26, 2021 between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Moldova. Under the same project, experts from Japan will conduct training courses for Moldovan rescuers and firefighters, who will be guided in the operation and maintenance of the delivered equipment.
