Dorin Recean requested the resignation of the head of the ANP. Anatolie Falca reacts

Prime Minister Dorin Recean has requested the immediate resignation of the head of the National Penitentiary Administration (ANP). The prime minister’s request comes in the context of amendments to the Amnesty Law and after several lifers were released. In a reaction for Teleradio-Moldova, Anatolie Falca stated that he “will obey the order and resign.”
“I requested the immediate resignation of the head of the National Penitentiary Administration. ANP is precisely the institution that must take into account all the risks of releasing prisoners, not let abuses happen,” Dorin Recean declared.
“I am an officer, I am on duty; we do what the commander requests,” said the director of the National Penitentiary Administration (ANP).
Anatolie Falca was appointed to lead the National Penitentiary Administration in November 2021.
The release of Sinigur and Radulov has sparked a wave of reactions. The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) expelled MP Olesea Stamate, who is the co-author of these legislative changes, from the party. Experts warn that this scandal could seriously damage the government’s image and provide the opposition with a new opportunity to attack. Political commentator Mihail Mogâldea noted that pro-Russian parties might exploit this situation to strengthen their electoral position.
In response, lawmakers urgently introduced new legislative amendments to prevent individuals sentenced to life imprisonment from benefiting from sentence commutation through amnesty or conditional release simultaneously. These amendments will come into effect upon publication in the Official Gazette.
