CNSM and CNPM push for 6,000 lei minimum wage in Moldova

The minimum wage in the Republic of Moldova should be increased to 6,000 lei (~€300), starting on July 1st, according to a joint request submitted to Prime Minister Dorin Recean by the National Confederation of Trade Unions (CNSM) and the National Confederation of Employers (CNPM), both of whom are social partners to the Government.

Representatives of the trade unions and employers support this initiative, claiming it is crucial for addressing in-work poverty and reducing social inequalities, and urge all EU candidate countries to make progress on this issue.

Additionally, CNSM and CNPM request that, in the context of the budgetary rectification "Budget +Plus," the additional resources allocated for personnel expenses, totaling over 290 million lei (~€15,000,000), should be prioritized for raising the minimum wage.

“We are waiting for a response from the authorities; however, I want to emphasize that we have a clearly defined work plan for the National Commission for Consultations and Collective Negotiations, where it is specified that the minimum wage is the first and most important issue at every meeting. Therefore, today, within the Executive Bureau of the National Commission, we discussed this matter, and during the April 17th meeting, we will address this topic within the Tripartite Commission’s Platform,” stated Igor Zubco, president of the National Confederation of Trade Unions (CNSM).

A comment was requested from Government representatives, but no response had been received by the time of publication.
