A cleaner river, a greener future: hundreds of people took part in the Bâc River cleanup

Hundreds of people took part in a clean-up of the Bâc River. They collected trash from the water and along the banks along the river, from plastic bottles and used tires to scrap metal. Through this action, organisers hope to make people more responsible for the environment.
Local authorities provided participants with gloves, bags, and transportation for garbage disposal. Volunteers collected hundreds of plastic bottles, rubber tires, and various metal items.
"We sorted household garbage and placed it in bags. Tires and the remaining debris were selected and piled up, as they need to be taken to the landfill. Most of the garbage consists of automotive waste, particularly tires," said one participant.
"I decided to join this campaign because there are many issues that need addressing, such as river pollution, which is a significant problem in our country," another volunteer mentioned.
"We need to keep our environment clean. It's nice to see the area tidy and free of garbage," they added.
Through these efforts, the organizers hope to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean river.
"Today, we invite all citizens to participate in such campaigns and promote a healthy environment—one where we can raise healthy children," stated Zinaida Micleușanu.
The spring sanitation campaign is held annually before the Easter holidays.
