The energy crisis in the Republic of Moldova and ways to support the country, discussed by the President of Romania and the Prime Minister of Greece
The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, discussed with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, about European energy security, mentioning the need to support the Republic of Moldova, according to a press release of the Presidential Administration of Romania.
The President of Romania and the Greek Prime Minister also addressed the current challenges in terms of ensuring energy security and affordable prices for citizens.
"President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasised the importance of continuing and diversifying energy interconnection projects and other critical infrastructures, welcoming the operationalization of the Gas Interconnector between Greece and Bulgaria, which is also an essential link for ensuring the energy security of the region. In addition, the two leaders highlighted the important step taken on Thursday, December 1, 2022, by energy sector companies from Romania, Greece, Bulgaria and Hungary by signing the memorandum of understanding for the implementation of the vertical corridor. It will ensure bidirectional flows of natural gas, including towards Romania and the Republic of Moldova", according to the press release of the Presidential Administration.
The President of Romania and the Prime Minister of Greece talked about ways to continue the process of supporting the Republic of Moldova, affected by an energy crisis. Klaus Iohannis presented the measures and actions undertaken by Romania.
Today the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, undertook a visit to Greece, where he had meetings with the Greek Prime Minister, as well as with the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
