Easter border waits: Moldovan Police advise travelers

During the Easter holidays, the Leușeni, Palanca, and Sculeni state border crossing points, as well as Chișinău International Airport, are experiencing an increased passenger flow.
This includes citizens returning home from the diaspora and those leaving the country for vacation. To avoid congestion and ensure efficient control, police teams are working intensively, mentioned Ilona Railean, head of strategic communication for the Border Police.
"We cooperate closely with colleagues from the Customs Service and with border and customs authorities from neighboring states to synchronize procedures. We monitor traffic in real-time and redistribute resources where queues form. Compared to usual periods, waiting times may increase, but we are taking all necessary measures to expedite border crossing. The Reverse Procedure involves reallocating traffic lanes from less congested directions to those experiencing heavy traffic. For example, if there are queues on the inbound lanes, we can also use part of the exit lanes to handle the incoming traffic flow. It is applied especially at border crossing points where the infrastructure allows, and the goal is to streamline traffic without compromising security," Ilona Railean stated.
According to data, most Moldovans are currently returning home from countries such as Italy, France, and the United Kingdom.
Furthermore, the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova announces that, until 10:00 AM on April 21, measures to limit access are in effect at the Chișinău International Airport terminal. Access to the terminal is restricted to passengers with a ticket and travel document, authorized personnel, and aircraft crews.
Passengers are urged to travel responsibly and to arrive at least three hours before the planned flight to complete all necessary travel formalities and avoid flight delays.
