Easter truce announced by Russia does not stop the attacks on Ukraine, says Zelensky

Russia pretends to honor Easter truce, but attacks and advances continue in some front-line areas, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday morning, following the Kremlin’s announcement of a temporary Easter truce the previous evening.
Despite the Kremlin’s declarations of a holiday truce, Ukraine reported continued Russian attacks on April 20. According to Zelensky, Russian forces carried out 387 shellings and 19 assault operations against Ukraine between 6 p.m. and midnight. This morning, the Ukrainian military reported 59 shellings and five assaults by the Russians in several directions, including Starobilsk, Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka and Zaporozhye. In the Kursk region, there were Russian artillery strikes and the use of drones.
“Our soldiers are responding everywhere as the enemy deserves in specific combat circumstances. Ukraine will continue to act in a mirror way. Russia must fully respect the ceasefire. Ukraine’s proposal to implement and extend the ceasefire for 30 days after 24:00 today remains in force. We will act following the real situation,” Zelensky said.
We recall that yesterday, April 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the Russian Federation is ceasing all military operations starting from Saturday, April 19, until the night of April 21.
