President Maia Sandu, after the death of Pope Francis: "The world lost a tireless promoter of compassion and equity"

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, sent a message of condolences following the death of Pope Francis, whom she described as "a tireless promoter of compassion and equity."
"Today, on the second day of Easter, the world says goodbye to a tireless promoter of compassion and equity. Pope Francis dedicated his life to the values of humanity, hope and solidarity, and through his example of modesty and humility, he managed to bring people closer together, regardless of faith, origin or status," wrote President Maia Sandu on her Facebook page.
The head of state added that his departure is a moment of reflection for all of humanity.
"May the light he lit in the hearts of so many people remain alive and guide us towards a better world," said Maia Sandu.
Pope Francis passed away on Monday morning, April 21, 2025, at 7:35 a.m., in his residence at Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican. The official announcement was made by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, camerlengo of the Apostolic Chamber, who conveyed with deep sorrow, "The Holy Father Francis has returned to the House of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of God and His Church."
