Eiffel Tower goes dark tonight in homage to the Pope

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo announced that the Eiffel Tower will not be lit up on Monday evening to "honor the memory" of Pope Francis, who died at the age of 88, news.ro writes.
“Since 2013, Pope Francis has never ceased to embody a universal message of solidarity, peace and humanity,” the mayor said in a statement.
Anne Hidalgo stressed that “ Pope’s stand for the vulnerable and human dignity marked our era”.
The mayor also paid tribute to him for his commitment to ecology, “a message that resonates strongly in our city,” and for his desire for “dialogue and rapprochement between peoples and for peace.” She added: “His courage and goodwill have given new life to hope.”
“In these hours of mourning, I offer my sincere condolences, on behalf of all Parisians, Catholics in Paris, in France and throughout the world who mourn him today. May his universal message continue to inspire future generations,” Anne Hidalgo wrote in a press release.
To honor the memory of the Sovereign Pontiff, the mayor of Paris announced that she will propose that a place in Paris bear his name.
