Odessa hit by Russian drone attack, 3 injured

Three people were injured following a kamikaze drone attack launched by Russia on the city of Odessa on the morning of Tuesday, April 22.
The information was confirmed by Ukraine's State Emergency Service (DSNS) and the head of the regional military administration, Oleg Kiper, who stated that the victims are receiving medical care, writes DW.
Following the attack, several fires broke out in the affected areas. 78 firefighters and 21 units of specialized equipment responded to the scene. According to the DSNS, the drones hit civilian infrastructure, residential buildings, an educational institution, and vehicles.
The city's mayor, Gennadi Trukhanov, announced that the explosion occurred in a densely populated neighborhood, and many apartments were severely damaged. "Residents are recovering from shock," the mayor wrote on Telegram.
Attacks on Odessa and the surrounding region continue. The last such incident occurred on April 20.
Meanwhile, fears regarding control over the port of Odessa remain high. The New York Times wrote in February that officials in Kyiv fear that US President Donald Trump might accept conditions imposed by Vladimir Putin concerning this strategic port.
On April 15, during a joint visit to Odessa, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte condemned the Russian attacks on civilians and infrastructure. Rutte emphasized that achieving a ceasefire and a lasting peace in Ukraine is an extremely difficult task for the current administration in Washington.
