Voting abroad: Moldova opens 2025 election registration

Eligible citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing abroad who intend to participate in the parliamentary elections on September 28, 2025, can register starting today, April 22, via the online platform inregistrare.cec.md.

The registration deadline is August 14, 2025, at 23:59:59 (Moldova time).

According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), pre-registration helps authorities estimate the number of voters who will cast their ballots abroad and is an essential criterion for opening polling stations abroad, alongside participation in previous elections and data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Voters who registered previously and have not changed their place of residence do not need to re-register, but they have the option to cancel and update their registration if they wish.

In addition, the online platform has been updated. Fictitious or invalid registrations have been removed, as well as those of deceased persons or persons who have lost their citizenship.

Regarding mail-in voting, the Central Electoral Commission clarifies that this option will only become available if Parliament approves its implementation for the autumn election.

The parliamentary elections will take place on September 28, 2025. CEC Vice-President Pavel Postica stated during the 'Zi de Zi' show on Radio Moldova that the institution has enough time for preparations and is already cooperating with several authorities to prevent negative influences on the electoral process.
