Maia Sandu condemns missile attack on Kyiv: "Russia doesn’t want peace—only death and destruction"

President Maia Sandu condemned the missile attacks launched by the Russian Federation last night on Kiev, which killed at least nine people and injured over 60. "Russia demonstrates once again that it does not seek peace, only death and destruction," stressed Maia Sandu.

“*The latest missile attack on Kiev killed and injured civilians. The Republic of Moldova condemns this act of terror,” declared Maia Sandu.

The head of state appealed to international leaders to provide support to Ukraine, emphasizing the need to strengthen air defense: “Only strength can stop this war”.

We remind you that during the night, Russian forces launched a new large-scale attack on the Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Kharkiv, despite recent statements by US President Donald Trump regarding progress in negotiations with Moscow.

According to the head of the military administration of the Ukrainian capital, Timur Tkachenko, Kiev was targeted by a combined attack, including ballistic missiles launched from several directions and missiles fired by Russian strategic aviation. Following the attack, at least nine fires broke out in the Goloseevsky, Shevchenkovsky and Svetoshinsky districts.

The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, initially announced that two people had died and 54 were injured, of whom 38, including 6 children, were taken to hospital. Later, the Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine updated the toll to 9 dead and 63 injured, of whom 42 were hospitalized.

Kharkiv was also targeted during the night, being hit by seven missiles and several attack drones.
