LIVE // Session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, inaugurated in Chisinau
The tenth ordinary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Eastern Partnership (AP Euronest), is inaugurated, today, February 20, for the first time, in Chisinau. The event brings together deputies from the Republic of Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine, as well as members of the European Parliament. At the same time, the president Maia Sandu and the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, participate in the inauguration event.
According to a press release issued by the Parliament, during the debates with the national delegations and political groups, topics related to the future of the Eastern Partnership policy as a result of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and the new regional security context will be addressed. We remind that the session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly began on February 19, in Chisinau, with the committee meetings, during which around 100 officials from the Eastern Partnership countries and members of the European Parliament discussed and adopted the reports on political affairs, integration economic, energy security and social aspects. Other subjects discussed by the parliamentarians concerned the progress made by the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine in the European course, as well as the fight against disinformation in the countries of the Eastern Partnership. The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly was established on May 3, 2011 in Brussels, when the presidents of the parliaments of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and the European Union signed the Constitutive Act of the Assembly. The mission of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly is to promote the necessary conditions for boosting political association and economic integration between the EU and its Eastern European partners, as well as to strengthen cooperation in the region, as well as between the region and the EU. The multilateral gathering contributes to strengthening, developing and increasing the visibility of the Eastern Partnership.
