Deputy Bolea faces restraining order over wife claims

Moldovan Deputy Vasile Bolea has allegedly received an urgent restraining order following an alleged assault on his wife.
The Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Doina Gherman, calls on the authorities "to investigate this case quickly, properly, and transparently." Contacted by Teleradio-Moldova, officials from the General Police Inspectorate have not yet responded to our calls to provide details.
"The law must be applied equally for all – without exception. Thousands of women in Moldova are abused in their own homes; verbal violence is often followed by physical violence. In most cases, the victim does not report their aggressor. Who knows how many years this woman was humiliated, assaulted, and silenced? This time, a child had the courage to seek help from the authorities," Doina Gherman stated on her Facebook page.
Images have also appeared on social media showing the police intervention at the deputy's house.
We also contacted the Ombudsman, Ceslav Panico, for a reaction to this case, but have not yet received a response.
Police intervened on the evening of Friday, April 25, in a case of 'domestic conflict,' Ziarul de Gardă reported, stating that it involved the family of Deputy Vasile Bolea. According to ZdG sources, one of the deputy's children called 112 saying that 'mom is being assaulted by dad.'
The Urgent Restraining Order is a provisional protection measure for the victim of domestic violence, applied by the police, through which the aggressor is immediately removed from the family home and legal prohibitions are established, to prevent repeated acts of violence, thereby ensuring the safety of the victim and other family members in their home, according to the Women's Law Center.
The order is issued by police officers for a period of up to 10 days and takes immediate effect. The aggressor and the victim (in the case of children – the victim's legal representative) are informed about the applied restrictions, their rights and obligations, and the liability for failing to comply with the requirements of the restraining order.
During the period the urgent restraining order is in effect, the victim has the right to apply for a protection order in court. If the victim applies for the protection order, the urgent restraining order is extended and remains in effect until the protection measures established by the court are implemented.
Vasile Bolea is a politician and lawyer from the Republic of Moldova, who has been a deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova since November 2014, being elected on the list of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova.
