Man who escaped from Taraclia Penitentiary, detained

The man who escaped from Taraclia penitentiary was detained in the Tomai locality, Ceadîr-Lunga district.
The police of the Republic of Moldova report that, following a coordinated effort between the police and the penitentiary administration, they successfully located and apprehended a prisoner hiding in a house in the town of Tomai.
According to the National Penitentiary Administration, the man was serving his sentence under semi-closed conditions and had the right to travel without an escort, monitored by an electronic bracelet. He was expected to travel to his workplace in the city of Taraclia, but he went missing.
As soon as his escape was discovered, the penitentiary administration and police units became alert and initiated search operations. Checkpoints were established in localities with indications that the fugitive might be located.
Under the Criminal Code, the prisoner faces an additional penalty of up to three years for escaping from a place of detention.
