The construction of the high-voltage power line from Vulcănești to Chișinău has progressed significantly, with approximately 70 percent of the line's total length completed. According to a press release from the Energy Projects Implementation Unit, over 130 pylons have been assembled, and 340 foundations have been constructed. The construction site spans 110 kilometers and is active in several localities across the districts of Cimișlia, Taraclia, Leova, and the Gagauz autonomy.

Construction of the foundations at the Chisinau Power Station has been completed, and assembly of the metal structures for the electrical equipment is currently underway. Representatives from the institution assure that the power line will be finished and connected to the Moldelectrica infrastructure through both the Vulcănești Power Station and the Chisinau Power Station by the end of this year.

The overhead power line will span 157 kilometers and feature over 500 pylons and 1,500 kilometers of conductors. This strategic connection will link the southern and central regions, crossing through 8 districts and 35 localities. Depending on the power system's demand, the line will be able to supply up to 50 percent of energy consumption during peak periods.

This project is part of the Power System Development Project and aligns with the Government of the Republic of Moldova's priority measures to enhance the country's energy security. The World Bank is financing the project, which has a total value of 61 million euros, with approximately 27 million euros allocated for the construction of the Vulcănești-Chișinău line.
