Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu comments on Russia's position towards the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova

In the context of Moscow's new threats, as if Russia were responsible for the Transnistrian region, the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, came up with a reaction. On a private television station, he declared that the position of the Russian Federation regarding the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova is a hypocritical one and that it must withdraw its occupation army and armaments from Cobasna, without giving lessons on neutrality. According to Igor Grosu, the Russian Federation violates the principle of sovereignty and neutrality of the Republic of Moldova by illegally keeping its army in the region to the left of the Nistru.

MEP Siegfried Muresan is of the opinion that Russia wants to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova in order to return it to its sphere of influence. In an interview, the MEP mentioned that the Russian Federation wants our country to be a weak, blackmailable state with poor citizens. According to the European official, the Sunday protest organized by the People's Movement represented a test for the representatives of public order institutions, which was successfully passed. He also stated that freedom of expression and freedom of assembly must be guaranteed in a democracy. In this context, the MEP asks the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to be vigilant and not to let themselves be manipulated by politicians who are at odds with the law. Siegfried Mureșan is president of the European Parliament Delegation to the European Union - Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee.
