Three Lyme disease cases reported in Chisinau from tick bites

Three cases of Lyme disease have been reported in Chisinau due to tick bites. Vladimir Bolocan, the head of the General Directorate of Medical and Social Assistance, made this announcement during a City Hall meeting. He also noted that new cases of measles continue to be registered.

"Due to the warm weather, many residents of Chisinau spent time in green spaces, which has resulted in three reported cases of Lyme disease, a condition caused by tick bites. Vladimir Bolocan urges the public to exercise caution regarding this issue. He recommends that people use only authorized areas specifically designated for recreation and walking.

During Monday’s City Hall meeting, Bolocan also reported an increase in measles cases. Since the beginning of February, over 90 cases of measles were documented in Chisinau, with 66 of those cases occurring in children.

"All these cases were in unvaccinated individuals, with several cases among those who were partially vaccinated. We must ensure complete vaccination; the measles vaccine is the only effective treatment", said Bolocan.

We remind you that last week, there were 11 suspected cases of measles reported, four of which have been laboratory confirmed, all involving unvaccinated or partially vaccinated children."
