The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, is attending the European Political Community Summit in Tirana to meet with European leaders who are friends of Moldova.

Together, we are working to advance peace and regional security, support Moldova’s economic resilience, and take the next steps on our path to EU membership”, reads the message posted by the president on X. com.

The Presidency has announced that the head of state is scheduled to meet with several leaders, including President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, President Emmanuel Macron of France, and Acting President Ilie Bolojan of Romania.

President Maia Sandu will also hold discussions with the prime ministers of Belgium, Bart De Wever; Denmark, Mette Frederiksen; Estonia, Kristen Michal; Italy, Giorgia Meloni; Latvia, Evika Siliņa; Lithuania, Gintautas Paluckas; Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre; Poland, Donald Tusk; the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer; and the Netherlands, Dick Schoof, among other European leaders.

These discussions will primarily focus on strengthening peace and security in the region and across Europe. Additionally, the leaders will address ways to increase the Republic of Moldova's economic resilience, promote projects that enhance the quality of life, and advance the country's accession process to the European Union.

The European Political Community was established at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron. It serves as a platform for political dialogue concerning peace and security across the continent and for fostering cooperation between EU and non-EU states. The inaugural summit of the Community took place in Prague in October 2022, and Albania hosted the second edition in June 2023.

Albania hosted the sixth Summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in Tirana, where 47 heads of state or government and leaders of key European and international institutions came together. In 2023, the Republic of Moldova served as the host for the EPC Summit.
