In a joint statement, the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Romania, and the United Kingdom, along with the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission, expressed their strong and united support for the Republic of Moldova and its European future. This statement followed their meeting with President Maia Sandu during the European Political Community Summit in Tirana.

“We welcome the Republic of Moldova’s ongoing commitment to democratic reforms, the rule of law, and the values shared across Europe. Moldova has enshrined in its Constitution the objective of joining the European Union, clearly indicating that this is the path its citizens choose for the country’s future. We are determined to support the Republic of Moldova's journey toward becoming a prosperous and solid democracy, where citizens enjoy the same opportunities and standard of living as their European counterparts. Moldova’s economic transformation is essential to this vision,” reads the joint statement from the Presidency.

The statement also emphasizes that “we will continue to support the country’s efforts to build a stronger and more competitive economy—one that creates jobs, attracts investment, and provides tangible benefits to all Moldovan citizens.”

Additionally, the statement appreciates the Republic of Moldova's efforts to maintain stability in a challenging regional context and to function as a reliable partner for European peace and security: “As the country prepares for the upcoming parliamentary elections, it is crucial that Moldovan citizens can freely choose their future without external interference. We will continue to support Moldova in defending its democratic processes and in enhancing its resilience against external threats.”

President Maia Sandu of the Republic of Moldova is participating in the European Political Community Summit in Tirana. She aims to meet with European leaders, whom she calls “friends of the Republic of Moldova.”

In Tirana, President Maia Sandu met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Both leaders reaffirmed that the future of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine is European.

“Our countries are progressing on this path together—working hard for peace, prosperity, and a safer life for our citizens. Our accession will make Europe stronger and more united,” the president said.

"We discussed the necessary steps to achieve lasting peace and strengthen bilateral cooperation. Ukraine's current priority is establishing a complete ceasefire for at least 30 days, which would serve as a foundation for diplomatic efforts. We also talked about energy security, European integration, the impact of election results in Europe on political processes, and hybrid threats from Russia. I would like to thank Maia Sandu and the entire people of Moldova for supporting Ukraine and their commitment to continuing our journey together in the European integration process," Zelensky noted on Telegram.
