Former Chișinău director faces corruption charges

The former director of the "Green Spaces Management Association" is under criminal investigation by the National Anti-corruption Center (NAC) and Chișinău municipal prosecutors for abuse of office in a case involving significant damages to the municipal enterprise's budget.
According to the NAC, between 2023 and April 2025, the former head allegedly signed fictitious technical maintenance contracts for several multi-functional pieces of equipment that were, in reality, never put into operation. The maintenance work was reportedly conducted only on paper, with documents drawn up contrary to manufacturer specifications.
The NAC claims these actions were committed in complicity with other individuals from the managed subdivision, as well as with representatives of various economic entities, all for material gain.
Searches are being conducted at multiple addresses in the capital on Thursday, led by the Chișinău Municipal Prosecutor's Office, with the aim of fully documenting the case and identifying all involved parties.
The press reports the individual in question is Tudor Gîrbu. It's worth noting that in August 2024, he was found to possess unjustified wealth exceeding 300,000 lei.
Tudor Gîrbu served as a counselor in the cabinet of the General Mayor of Chișinău Municipality from December 2019 to January 2023.
