CSP designates today the candidate for the position of interim general prosecutor

The candidate for the interim position of Prosecutor General will be selected during the Superior Council of Prosecutors meeting on May 28. Individuals interested in this position have 24 hours to submit their applications. This decision was made during the Council meeting, following the swearing-in of former Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu as a judge at the Supreme Court of Justice.
The president of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP), Dumitru Obadă, stated that “all prosecutors in the system who believe they can take on this interim provisional mandate are encouraged to submit their applications.” Interested candidates must provide an application form, a motivation letter, and a CV detailing their professional experience.
According to the legislation, the interim prosecutor general must meet several criteria: They must be citizens of the Republic of Moldova, proficient in the Romanian language, possess a higher education in legal studies, have an impeccable reputation, not have a criminal record or be under any judicial protection measures, and have at least 10 years of experience in the legal field.
The CSP justified the deadline for submitting applications by emphasizing the need to maintain continuity in management and criminal procedure within the prosecutor’s office hierarchy.
A meeting to discuss the applications is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
The position of Prosecutor General became vacant following Ion Munteanu's appointment as a judge at the Supreme Court of Justice. The presidential decree confirming his appointment was signed at the end of last week and published in the Official Gazette on Monday. Today, Ion Munteanu took the oath before the Superior Council of Magistracy members.
