Klaus Iohannis declares that the Republic of Moldova needs the support of allies in the context of the war in the region

The Republic of Moldova needs the support of its allies in the context of the war in the region, said Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, after the B9 Summit in Warsaw. The leader from Bucharest stated that Romania "plays a very important role" in supporting its neighbors. Asked about recent warnings about the security of the Republic of Moldova and threats from Moscow, Iohannis stated that "we have no information now that practical actions are imminent", writes Digi24.

"We know that there has always been pressure on the Republic of Moldova to induce insecurity and possibly instability in the country and in Moldovan politics. We have no information now that practical actions are imminent but we must not underestimate the importance of these informational attacks. The people of Moldova feel threatened, they feel insecure", declared the Romanian president.

Klaus Iohannis says that Romania and the Romanians play an important role in supporting the Moldovans.

"Romania and Romanians play a very important role: Let's assure them that we are with them, not only with words, but also with deeds. With energy, money, fuel, consulting and many other things. (...) I want to emphasize that we are with Moldova. (...) Romania is not only ready, it is willing to support the Republic of Moldova in any scenario. How this support will look depends on the evolution of the geopolitical period. At the moment we support them with electricity, gas, we help them reform the institutions, but I personally am willing to go much further if the situation requires it", said Klaus Iohannis.

We remind that tomorrow, February 23, President Maia Sandu will visit the Cotroceni Palace, at the invitation of her Romanian counterpart, Klaus Iohannis. The delegation from Chisinau also includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, and meetings with other Romanian officials are also on the agenda.

In Bucharest, the head of state will discuss bilateral cooperation, the security situation of our country and our European path.
