Moldova’s Ambassador to Bucharest: "Our ongoing projects will continue"

Relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova are entering a new phase of strengthening, highlighted by significant infrastructure and interconnection projects. Romania's ambassador to Bucharest, Victor Chirilă, gave these assurances during the "We and Europe" program on Radio Moldova.

"There is continuity as we begin a new stage in our relations, a stage that I believe will be even better than the current one. I am very confident that we will enjoy a fruitful period in our collaboration. The projects we have initiated in recent years will continue, including the ongoing construction of new bridges over the Prut River, and we will also see the development of a highway that will connect us. Additionally, high-voltage power lines will be built in the coming years, along with many other initiatives that will be implemented," declared Ambassador Victor Chirilă.

Mariana Ruffa, president of the European Business Association in the Republic of Moldova, emphasized that Romania is our country's most important trading partner. Of the total exports from the Republic of Moldova to the EU, which account for about 70 percent, over 30 percent are directed to Romania.

"We have already launched several investment projects in the fields of renewable energy and infrastructure. Many more infrastructure projects are in the pipeline, which will be financed through the reform agenda as well as other additional sources. Furthermore, numerous projects aimed at enhancing customs procedures are underway to ensure a smoother flow at the border. These initiatives will significantly boost trade between the Republic of Moldova and the EU, particularly with Romania," Mariana Ruffa stated.

We remind you that the Republic of Moldova was identified as a foreign policy priority in Romanian President Nicușor Dan's inaugural speech. Nicușor Dan was sworn in as President of Romania on May 26 after winning the presidential elections on May 18, securing 53.6% of the valid votes. He received support from 6,168,696 citizens, leading his opponent, George-Nicolae Simion, by over 829,000 votes. Simion garnered 5,338,999 votes, representing 46.4%.
