Assets of Bashkan Guțul and four Șor associates frozen
Evghenia Guțul, the Bashkan of Gagauzia, along with Iurie Cuznetov, Nelli Parutenco, Chiril Guzun, and Dumitru Chitoroagă, has been targeted by official decisions to freeze their funds and real estate. These decisions were issued by the State Tax Service and published in the Official Gazette on May 30. They implement international restrictive measures from the European Union, which have been transposed into national legislation through Decision no. 7 of the Interinstitutional Supervisory Council, dated August 1, 2024.
Assets that were blocked:
- Evghenia Guțul – 1 real estate property, share (Decision no. 389)
- Iurie Cuznetov – 4 real estate properties (Decision no. 390)
- Nelli Parutenco – 2 real estate properties (Decision no. 391)
- Chiril Guzun – 8 assets (land and buildings) (Decision no. 392)
- Dumitru Chitoroagă – 11 plots of land with shares (Decision no. 393)
Reasons for blocking:
All five individuals are included on the EU sanctions list due to their association with the former "Sor" party. They are considered involved in activities that destabilize the Republic of Moldova, including promoting separatism in Gagauzia, spreading disinformation, supporting Russian propaganda, and organizing or backing violent protests, along with illegal financing and media manipulation.
According to the legislation, the blocked assets will remain frozen until a decision is made to revoke the measures. The individuals affected may appeal these measures within 30 days.
