Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu pays an official visit to Greece

Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, is paying an official visit to Greece, from June 1 to 4, at the invitation of his Greek counterpart.

Igor Grosu is set to meet with the leadership of the Parliament in Athens, including the President of the Parliament, Nikitas Michail Kaklamanis, and the First Vice-President of the Hellenic Parliament, Ioannis Plakiotakis, who also serves as the President of the European Affairs Committee. The visit will include discussions with Vasileios Giogiakas, the President of the Greece-Moldova Friendship Group, along with other members of the Group.

Traditionally, the Parliament Speaker also engages with representatives of the diaspora. According to a statement issued by the Parliament, members of the Moldovan community living, studying, or working in Greece will have the opportunity to discuss various matters with Igor Grosu on Sunday evening.

Accompanying the Speaker during the visit to Athens will be Larisa Novac, a member of Parliament and President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Hellenic Republic.

We remind you that the Parliament of the Hellenic Republic is leading the Twinning Project that the Parliament in Chișinău will benefit from from 2025 to 2027. The Twinning Project, titled “Strengthening the Capacities of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and its Role in the EU Accession Process,” has a budget of 1.4 million euros. It is funded by the European Union and implemented by a consortium of partners led by the Parliament of Greece, in collaboration with the Parliaments of Romania, Italy, Hungary, and Austria. The main objective of the Twinning Project is to support the Republic of Moldova's EU accession process. Specifically, the project aims to ensure an efficient, transparent, and participatory legislative process in line with the harmonization of Moldova's legislation with EU standards and to strengthen parliamentary oversight.
