Nicu Popescu: The Republic of Moldova will denounce some CIS agreements
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu, informs that this week the Republic of Moldova will initiate the process of denouncing several agreements signed within the CIS. The Deputy Prime Minister claims that only agreements that are incompatible with our country's commitments for joining the European Union are abandoned.
Nicu Popescu claims that the withdrawal from dozens of agreements is due to the fact that they "are not relevant, do not work, do not apply or are against the Republic of Moldova". We remind you that, last December, the head of state declared that the exit of the Republic of Moldova from the Community of Independent States is a long-term process. According to Maia Sandu, the relationship between the CIS countries is based on several hundred agreements, many of them bilateral and economic. The Republic of Moldova pays annually 5.7 million lei for CIS membership and 3.8 million to the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS.
