European leaders congratulated Poland's new president, Karol Nawrocki, and expressed their hopes for continued close cooperation with Warsaw. Ursula von der Leyen, Viktor Orban, and Petr Pavel were among those who sent messages of support following the conservative candidate's narrow victory in the second round of the presidential election. President Maia Sandu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also sent congratulations.

Poland held presidential elections on Sunday, June 1, resulting in the election of a new president. Karol Nawrocki, the conservative eurosceptic candidate backed by the Law and Justice Party (PiS), secured 50.89% of the votes in the second round, defeating the liberal candidate Rafał Trzaskowski, who was supported by pro-European Prime Minister Donald Tusk and received 49.11% of the votes.
According to the Polish Electoral Commission, voter turnout was over 71% among eligible voters. This election was viewed as a significant indicator of the country's political direction, contrasting the nationalist and pro-European factions.
