Moldovans urged to avoid non-essential travel to Russia

Moldovan citizens are advised to refrain from non-essential travel to the Russian Federation. This warning comes from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Russia, as Moscow authorities are increasingly imposing coercive measures against foreign immigrants, including Moldovans.
The institutions emphasize that, given the state's responsibility to ensure the safety of its citizens, the recommendation aims to prevent potential abusive or dangerous situations.
The following coercive actions were reported:
- Detention of citizens at border crossings or during raids within the territory of Russia.
- Arbitrary enforcement of legislation.
- Transfer of individuals to preventive detention centers, including the Multifunctional Migration Center.
- Imposing administrative penalties or criminal charges without clear evidence.
- Increased risk of harassment or wrongful detention by law enforcement agencies.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds Moldovan citizens currently in the Russian Federation who are facing emergency situations that they can contact the emergency line of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow at +7 929 964 9079.
